How often should you rotate?

Every 5,000 to 7,500 miles for most cars, which is the same window as your oil change. Front and rear tires wear at different rates, so moving them around evens out the tread and makes the whole set last longer.

Rotation vs balancing, what’s the difference

Rotation moves the tires to new positions so they wear evenly. Balancing corrects tiny weight differences so the tire spins smooth. If you feel a vibration in the wheel or seat at highway speed, that is usually a balance issue, and it is a quick fix.

Both protect your tread, and both are cheap next to a new set of tires.

Rotation keeps wear even, but if the alignment is off your tires will chew themselves up no matter how often you rotate.
