Engine repair in Star, ID
Diagnostics to major repair on any make, old or odd vehicles included. We find the real problem first, then call you with the real price.
From sensors to major repair
Engine work covers a lot of ground, and we do the whole range. Small stuff like a failed oxygen sensor, a rough idle, an overheating problem, or a stubborn noise you want chased down. Big stuff too, up to major internal repair and full rebuilds. It's all under one roof at our Star repair shop, so you're not getting bounced between a parts counter and a dealer.
If your engine is making a noise or running rough, the honest first step is finding out what's actually wrong before anyone quotes you a repair.
We diagnose first, then call you with the real number
A big engine bill is exactly where people get scared into work they don't need. Here's how we keep that from happening: we diagnose the problem first, then call you with the real number before we do anything. Estimates are free. You decide with the facts in front of you, not a sales pitch.
That's not just a line. One customer brought us a 1966 Chevy C-10 that other shops wouldn't even look at. We went through it, found nothing wrong, and charged nothing. No made-up problem, no upsell. Same way we'd handle an oil change or the biggest job on the board.
Old, high-mileage, and unusual engines welcome
Plenty of shops quietly steer away from anything old or unusual, because it's harder and the parts take digging. We don't. Between the family and the crew there's 40+ years in the trade here, and that C-10 story isn't a one-off. You can read more about the shop and the people on our about page.
If a chain brushed off your vehicle for being too old or too odd, that's exactly the car we want in the bay.
It usually starts with a scan
Most engine trouble starts the same way: a warning light or a code. A code is a starting point, not an answer, so a check engine light diagnosis is often step one before any repair. We test the system, not just read the number off the port, then tell you what it really needs.
Questions about a specific repair or your make? Our FAQ has the common ones, or tell us what's going on and we'll set up a diagnosis.
How an engine repair goes here
- We scan and test to find the real cause, not just the code.
- We call you with the problem and a free estimate before any work starts.
- You say yes or no with the real number in front of you.
- We fix it and stand behind the parts under the manufacturer's warranty.
- Nothing gets added along the way without your ok. We call before we touch anything.
Brought my 66 Chevy C-10 to these guys to diagnose an engine tick and they had an answer to me the next day, no charge… No attempts to sell me services I didn’t need. Told me straight everything is good to go as-is and have a nice day. Awesome.

Questions, answered straight
Is it worth fixing my engine, or should I replace the car?
That is exactly the call we will help you make. We diagnose the problem first, then tell you straight what the repair costs and whether it makes sense against what the car is worth. Sometimes the honest answer is that it is not worth it, and we will say so.
Do you charge to look at my car?
We give free estimates. Bring it by or call and we will tell you what checking it out involves before anything starts, so there is no surprise on the bill.
Will you work on my old or unusual vehicle?
Usually, yes. We have taken in everything from daily drivers to a 66 Chevy C-10 that other shops would not touch. Give us a call with the year and make and we will tell you straight whether we can help.
Bring it by the corner.
Bring it in and we will tell you what it needs and what it does not, with the price up front.
