Do you actually need new tires?

Here is the test you can do in your driveway. Put a penny in the tread with Lincoln’s head pointing down. If you can see the top of his head, you are down to about 2/32 of an inch and it is time. Cracks in the sidewall, uneven wear, or a tire past six years old are reasons too.

If you are not there yet, we will say so. Sometimes the fix is a flat repair, a rotation, or a set of used tires to get you through. We will tell you which, even when it means we sell you less.

Winter and Idaho roads

State Street and the back roads out to the foothills do not care how new your car is. Worn tread and a wet or icy morning are how people end up in the ditch. Good tread and the right pressure are the cheapest safety you can buy before winter.

New tread lasts longer when the alignment is straight and you rotate them regularly. We will set that up while you are here.

Honest pricing, free estimates

Estimates are free and the number we give you is the number you pay. No shop fees sprung on you at the counter. Call for your size or send us the details and we will get you a quote.

FAQ

Questions, answered straight

How do I know if I need new tires?

Put a penny in the tread with Lincoln’s head down. If you can see the top of his head, the tread is worn to about 2/32 of an inch and it is time. Cracks in the sidewall, uneven wear, or a tire more than six years old are also reasons to replace. Bring it by and we will look for free and tell you straight.

How long should a set of tires last?

Most new tires last 40,000 to 60,000 miles, depending on the tire and how you drive. Rotating them every oil change and keeping the alignment straight makes them last longer. A good used tire has less life left but still gets you safely down the road for a lot less.

Will you mount tires I bought online?

Yes. We are a listed Tire Rack installer, so if you bought tires online we will mount, balance, and install them for you. Give us a call to set it up.
